The start of the day shift sees dispatcher Tom, begin his 7 mile walk to work, he reflects on his own journey from working in the mines which have now closed to a career in the ambulance service; "The North East has changed so much over the years, but one constant thing that's always been there is the ambulance service, it's always been there for the people of the North East."

The start of the day shift and a call is received for a female patient with dizziness; crewmates Chris & Becca are dispatched. As they make their way to the patient, they're flagged down to help another man who has fallen at the roadside

The episode begins in control centre as an emergency call is received for a male driving the wrong way up a slip road on the A19. Crewmates Ollie and James are immediately dispatched alongside the police to treat the patient. They believe he is in the midst of a serious mental health crisis.

As crews begin to book on for the start of the busy weekend shift, a 999 call is received for a patient who has jumped off a bridge. Crewmates Joe & Hayley are the closest available resource and are immediately dispatched to the scene.

It's a dramatic start to the shift for the charity funded Helicopter Emergency Medical Service [HEMS] who are monitoring the calls made to the North East Ambulance Service. An urgent call is received for a car that's fallen from a bridge onto the A1.

It's the start of the day shift for the North East Ambulance Service. Working out of Blucher station today are crewmates and partners, Keigheley & Georgina. Also on the shift, are crewmates Paula & Phil who are dispatched to a suicidal patient struggling to cope following a recent break-up.
