America From Above The South

This journey starts in Williamsburg before moving on to the James River and the plantation houses along its banks Downstream is Jamestown where early English settlers arrived in the 17th century From there we head to the historical site of Yorktown where the English surrendered to George Washington Then to the wild Peninsula of creeks and marshes at Assateague Island with its wild horses

This journey begins at Raleigh the capital city of North Carolina and the second largest in the state The Blue Ridge Mountains are part of the Appalachian Mountain Range which runs for over 1500 kilometers up the eastern side of America In the 1880s George Vanderbilt II constructed the enormous Biltmore Mansion which he called his lsquolittle mountain escape

This journey begins at Mepkin Abbey on the Cooper River before heading east to the Historic Hampton Plantation then on to the coast where we follow marshland and inlets before flying over the enormous Francis Marion National Forest To the south is Fort Sumter a key stronghold during the American Civil War Our journey ends on the sandy beaches of Hilton Head Island

This journey begins at Myrtle Beach in the northeast corner of the state where we follow the resort coastline before turning inland across forest and farmland towards one of Americas best known road houses South of the Border From there we take a look at Woodburn Plantation an historic fort at Ninety Six before ending the journey at the beautiful Strom Thurmond Lake

This journey begins at Augusta on the Savannah River before heading northwest to the city of Athens and home to the University of Georgia From there we head across the vast Chattahoochee National Forest before turning south towards Atlanta the State capital of Georgia burnt down during the Civil war and in the last century home to Martin Luther King Jr
