As World War I rages in Europe, the residents of Avonlea prepare for their annual Christmas festivities. Hetty is planning a concert with the schoolchildren to raise funds for the war effort. Janet, whose son Felix is fighting overseas, would prefer to forget about the war altogether. Tensions come to a head, but the King family manages to have a very special Christmas.
