Insurance man Leonard Hoffman (Alan Arkin) finds himself strapped for cash after he decides to send his three sons to Yale. Leonard gets drawn into a bizarre scheme by Steve Rickey (Peter Falk) and his screwball wife, Blanche (Beverly D'Angelo) to collect on an "accidental" death policy. Their wacky plot gets sidetracked by a series of hilariously unforeseen twists.
