A group of social misfits band together and run away from summer camp. Along the way, they take up a crusade to save penned-in buffalo from a rifle club's slaughter. There's a symbiotic relationship between the boys and the beasts: the kids have all been shunted aside as misfits and losers, while the buffalo have likewise been targetted for obscurity.
