Okumura Rin começa a se preocupar com seu futuro, enquanto seu irmão gêmeo, Yukio, começa a estudar na prestigiosa Escola True Cross. Durante uma entrevista de emprego, Rin encontra uma criatura demoníaca e causa tumulto na loja.

Rin fica perturbado quando Shiro revela que ele é filho de Satã! Avisando-o para nunca sacá-la, Shiro dá a Rin a Espada Koma e o esconde no porão do monastério. Do lado de fora, começa uma batalha feroz…

Jurando se tornar um exorcista, Rin é levado à Escola True Cross pelo misterioso Mephisto, um amigo de seu falecido pai. Mais tarde, Rin vai ao curso de Exorcismo e Mephisto avisa: “Deve manter o fato de ser filho de Satã em segredo.”

Quando Yukio aceita um caso, Rin o acompanha até a Loja de Suprimentos de Exorcismo. Lá ele conhece Shiemi, uma garota com a perna machucada, cuidando de seu jardim. Yukio examina as pernas de Shiemi e encontra rastros demoníacos.

Rin está sempre cochilando nas aulas, para desgosto do brilhante aluno Suguro. Suguro almeja se tornar um exorcista para poder restaurar o templo de sua família em Kyoto, e não consegue tolerar ser colega de classe de um preguiçoso.

A maior dor de cabeça da vida escolar de Rin são suas refeições diárias. Seguindo o conselho de Yukio, Rin começa a cozinhar na cozinha do dormitório, preparando almoço na noite anterior. Mas toda comida desaparece pela manhã!

Para superar a timidez, Shiemi secretamente jura “fazer amigos!”. Após demonstrar suas habilidades de Domadora na classe, ela finalmente pede para Izumo ser sua amiga! Logo depois, o curso de exorcismo inicia um treinamento intensivo.

Abalada por falhar ao salvar sua melhor amiga, Izumo desconta em Suguro! A briga aumenta até que a classe toda se envolve e todos ficam de castigo. De repente, os alunos são atacados pelo ghoul com quem Rin lutou no dia anterior!

Lutando juntos pela primeira vez, Rin e os outros sobrevivem por um triz. De repente, Mephisto e os professores do curso de exorcismo se revelam! Sentindo algo estranho no comportamento de Noihaus, Yukio confronta o professor e acaba descobrindo...

Após a animação de ter sido promovido a Exwire, Rin logo fica deprimido pela quantidade de dever de casa. Logo depois, Yukio é chamado para uma missão urgente! O familiar dos Cavaleiros de True Cross enlouquece e Yukio tem de lidar com a crise.

Rin, Shima e Izumo foram enviados numa missão e acabam tendo que trabalhar. Eles encontram um garoto chamado Yohei e ficam sabendo do "Demônio do Mar Profundo". Yohei perdeu seu pai para esse monstro e quer vingança.

A classe investiga aparições de fantasmas no parque de diversões. Rin é colocado como parceiro de Shiemi, e eles encontram o fantasma de uma criança. Separado de Shiemi, Rin é confrontado por Amaimon, Rei da Terra.

A Exorcista Sênior de Primeira Classe Kirigakure Shura para a batalha entre Rin e Amaimon. Rin descobre que Shura foi discípula de Shiro, e que Shura o tem como alvo de eliminação: "O trabalho que meu mentor falhou em cumprir!"

The first semester has ended, signaling the start of summer vacation for True Cross Academy students. But there’s no rest in sight for Rin and the other ExWires: first they must take part in a 3-day drill to prepare them for actual combat, under the guise of a camping trip out in the forest.

Suguro's joint strategy pays off, and the ExWires have success in their sights! But then a gigantic moth demon (chuchi) appears, and attacks Rin the moment he lets his guard down!

Consumed by the power of the flames during his battle with Amaimon, Rin goes berserk! He regains control of himself once his power is exhausted...only to be captured then and there by the current Paladin, Angel!

As the hearing drags on, the Order finds itself unable to decide on Rin's fate, as Mephisto has proclaimed him to be "a weapon for counterattacking Satan." Just then, something happens…!

Rin is undergoing training so that he can learn to master his demonic flames. Just then, a giant bird-like demon called Gufu swoops in on him! With Yukio's help, he drives it away, but all of the Cram School members are sent to investigate how the demon infiltrated the academy...

The Exorcism Cram School students are having a ball with Shima's birthday-based fortune-telling. When they discover that Izumo's birthday is coming up, they hit upon the idea of throwing her a surprise party!

Southern Cross Monastery, where Rin and Yukio grew up, has come under attack by a mysterious assailant! Leaving behind these cryptic words: "I will never forgive anyone related to Satan," the masked assailant escapes…

The assailant has escaped, but the monastery attack case is winding down. Just then, an elderly man namea Ernst appears before Yukio. He reveals the secret of Yukio and Rin's birth, as well as what the Vatican did their mother. Shocked, Yukio also begins to harbor doubts about the Knights of the True Cross. Meanwhile, the injured assailant has stumbled into Shiemi's garden at the Supply Shop...

In light of the incidents following the monastery attack, Mephisto is dismissed from his post as director. The Order's Supreme Advisors, the Grigori, are ousted as well, paving the way for Ernst to become Pope. And the newly appointed Preceptor of the Japan Branch is revealed to be...

Ernst is scheming to invoke the Gehenna Gate by using the blood of Rin, son of Satan. In order to protect his wounded older brother, Yukio offers to take his place.

Hordes of demons are spilling out of Gehenna Gate! And these intruders from the "Empty World" are now indiscriminately attacking the people of True Cross Academy Town!
