For newcomer Tsubasa, soccer is life. Soon he meets Ryo, who has it out with goalie Genzo, and decides to battle the master keeper himself.

Victory slips through Genzo’s fingers; Tsubasa is taunted. Observing, former Brazilian pro player Roberto offers to train Tsubasa and his team.

With the tournament on the horizon, Roberto surprises Tsubasa with a game against Nishigaoka Elementary to find Nankatsu Elementary’s weaknesses.

The battle between Nankatsu and Shutetsu rages on. Genzo’s team controls the ball, and Taro replaces Ryo, forming an unstoppable duo with Tsubasa.

Nankatsu manages to tie before Tsubasa and Genzo seal the deal with a shake. Next are the playoffs. But who will qualify?

The players selected for the prefectural tournament have been revealed, but Hyuga, captain of Meiwa FC, challenges Genzo.

Nankatsu SC faces the impenetrable Shimada SC. Neither Tsubasa nor Misaki manage to advance to the goal, and all under the pouring rain.

In the prefectorial tournament, Shimizu FC conspires to beat Nankatsu SC by taking down Genzo, who’s more than willing to put it all on the line.

Nankatsu SC defeats Shimizu FC, qualifying for the National Tournament with Tsubasa as captain. First up is Meiwa FC, led by the mighty Hyuga.

Tournament day three. Awaiting Nankatsu is Hanawa FC and the infamous Tachibana Twins.

Nankatsu SC has to win to qualify, but Hanawa FC manages to keep up with a fearsome defense. To score, Tsubasa will have to think fast.

It’s the semifinals as Nankatsu SC faces Naniwa FC and their terrifying goalie, Nakanishi. Will he fade before Tsubasa’s shooting power?

Furano FC captain Matsuyama has a warning for Hyuga, who’s hit with a penalty. Enter the match’s new player, Meiwa FC’s secret weapon.

Misugi’s illness and Musashi FC’s talent drain Tsubasa’s enthusiasm for the match. Misugi, however, is annoyed and tries to change his mind.

Misugi fences Tsubasa in and thwarts his effort to score. With the help of Genzo, Roberto, and Misaki, Tsubasa manages to fend off his doubts.

As the match against Musashi FC concludes, Nankatsu SC catches up, pushing the game into overtime. It’s do or die. Can they defeat Misugi?

It’s the tournament final with once again Nankatsu SC vs. Meiwa FC. Tsubasa and Hyuga are back at it, but this time Genzo defends the goal.

Meiwa FC changes their game: Hyuga finally becomes a team player, making the situation extremely difficult for Tsubasa and his teammates.
