A return to Cameroon brings back long-suppressed memories: as an adult, France returns after decades to the country where she grew up as a child. In the vast landscapes of the former French colony, shadows of the past emerge. Her memories take her back to the 1950s, to a colonial house near Mindif, Cameroon, where she lived with her mother and the house servant Protée.
