Exciting, brutal and thrilling. The 1995 German Touring Car Championships. 1994 champion Klaus Ludwig surprisingly left Mercedes-Benz AMG and joined the new Opel-Team Rosberg, alongside 1982 formula 1 champion and team owner Keke Rosberg. Mercedes-Benz with driver Bernd Schneider dominated and won the driver title and as well as the manufacturers award.

1952. The start of the legendary 24 hour endurance race at Le Mans. A race steeped in history. After 22 years away, Mercedes-Benz returned in triumph with a 1-2 victory and Ferrari uses factory team cars for the first time.

1983 - Audi introduced the quattro drive and with it, brought a new dimension to rally racing. The races became harder and more brutal. The strain on drivers, vehicles and mechanics is sometimes limitless.

1984. The rallye professionals and drift-artists, Hannu Mikkola, Walter Röhrl, Björn Waldegaard, Marku Alen and of course Michele Mouton, fighting fiercly in Europe and Africa for the World Championship title.

Difficult conditions over 5.000 kilometres. Meter high sand dunes and extreme heat are an unconquerable challenge for many of the amateur rallye drivers.

1990 was a breathtaking year at the Porsche Carrera Cup, the fastest and most exciting one-make sports car racing series. After a break, Porsche started with the new Carrera 2 Cup Coupe with 265hp generated by a powerful 6 cylinder engine.

Round six of the FIA World Rally Championship 1997 was held on the Mediterranean island of Corsica with start and finish in the capital Ajaccio. The drivers steered their vehicles over almost 1,000 km of narrow, twisty mountain roads. The winner's name: Colin McRae on the Subaru Impreza WRC.

The 1997 World Rally Championship is one of the most demanding and exciting world championships in rally history. After taking on the hot dusty plains of Africa, the participants return to Europe for the fourth event and first gravel run of the season. In Portugal, they have to tackle one of the country's most difficult race tracks, which claims many victims.

The seventh round of the 1997 FIA World Rally Championship takes the teams to one of the most impressive countries of the season: Argentina. The battle takes place on the winding, dusty roads in the Andes Mountains and the base camp of the rally was located in the city of Cordoba. Audience members, whether on horseback or on foot, crowded along the paths to follow the spectacle.

In 1984 the new grand prix race track was opened at Nürburgring, Germany. The first 1,000-kilometre race on this track was a spectacular motorsports event. For the first and only time Ayrton Senna, who later became Formula1 world champion, took part in this racing series in a Porsche 956. From 1966 until 1974 the Canadian-American Challenge Cup, or Can-Am, was a series of sports car races on the North American continent. The Can-Am's technical regulations allowed almost limitless possibilities in regards to new materials, engine displacement, performance enhancement and aerodynamics. Monster race cars with more than 1,000 horsepower and enormous speed took part in the races.

In the late 1950s rally sports was professionalized. The car manufacturers at that time developed cars that were robust and fast enough to also be driven off-road. The sports authorities issued new regulations and race tracks became more and more difficult. A new generation of drivers like Timo Mäkkinen, Rauno Aaltonen and Ove Anderson arose who specialised in this particular sports.
