Over the years planet Earth has gone through many natural cycles Today the world is changing again but this time humankind is accelerating the cycle As the climate warms heavier rainfall plus sealevel rise are creating bigger and more devastating storms and flooding The extreme weather events have shaken the globe and caught the worlds attention as they bring continuous flood disasters

Hurricanes bring high winds strong enough to do significant damage and threaten lives and they also cause storm surges that raise sea levels Over time hurricanes are only becoming stronger intensifying faster and dropping even more rain due to global warming This has caused more devastation to communities further inland that are unprepared for these weather events

Extinction levels today are accelerating faster than those of the dinosaurs Without urgent action nature will continue to decline globally at unprecedented rates With our knowledge and the help of modernday technology humankind can still act to reduce our impact on the climate but only ambitious action can make that happen along with cooperation among peoples all across the world

A wildfire is an unplanned unwanted and uncontrolled fire in an area of combustible vegetation starting in both rural and urban areas Wildfires can destroy property and human life although naturally occurring wildfires may benefit from the ecosystems where they have started While not attributed to one cause climate change is only worsening wildfires and humankind must adapt to reduce risk

The impacts of climate change are felt worldwide Extreme droughts threaten livelihoods everywhere In the summers of 2021 and 2022 extreme weather struck globally including China In 2022 China faced its worst heatwave since 1961 affecting over 900 million people The Yangtze River Basin was the worst hit For over 70 days temperatures exceeded 104°F turning the country into a barren land
