Queen Beatrix (Mara van Vlijmen) and other members of the royal family are targeted in a car attack by a man, shocking the entire nation. The queen and Prince Bernhard (Eric Schneider) then discuss the upcoming elections in the Netherlands.

People remain pressuring Claus (Peter Oosthoek) and young Beatrix (Mara van Vlijmen) to put an end to their relationship. In the present day, Beatrix (Willeke van Ammelrooy) does not see Máxima (Katja Herbers) fit to succeed her as queen and plunges into her family's past.

After the attack on the royal family the changes are more plausible for Beatrix (Willeke Van Ammelrooy). Meanwhile, the popularity of right-wing nationalist party PVV rises and there is a new cabinet crisis. The role of the Dutch queen is openly questioned across the media.
