Cruising the Cut

Season Three sees David embarking on some DIY on the boat and getting rather grimy in the process, as well as undertaking a cruise down the wide Grand Union canal, towards - but not quite reaching - London. Plus there's a winter cruise and to cap it all off, an episode featuring how canal boats used to be pulled - by horse.

As a self-confessed fair weather narrowboater, a trip along the canal in the middle of deepest, darkest winter is something of a departure for our host but, with a friend aboard, a short jaunt along part of the Oxford Canal in December was in order. There's no snow but it did feel jolly chilly.
