District Six Rising from the Dust

The memory of District Six is as iconic to Cape Town as Table Mountain, it is remembered as a place with a diverse community, filled with art, music and culture. In 1966 District Six was declared a "whites only" area by the apartheid state. Approximately 80 000 people were forcibly removed. Among those families were the filmmakers'. Decades later she moves into a home restituted to her family.
