Divine Restoration

The Ossington Avenue Baptist Church is hoping to bring some life back into two of their most-used rooms: the fitness center and multi-purpose basement. The upgrades would benefit both the congregation and the community, so Jim, Catherine, and a handful of volunteers help renovate these tired-looking rooms into bright, fresh spaces.

The Living Hope Community Church needs more space for their growing youth performing arts program. A single room in their building holds not only their sanctuary, but a practice and performance area for their multiple dance and music groups. Experts and volunteers expand the room into its adjoining space, and there is finally a dedicated rehearsal hall for the youth to use and enjoy.

The Love Fellowship Tabernacle is run by a Grammy-award winning pastor, who hopes to transform a multi-purpose room into a youth performance center. With many volunteers ready to help out, Jim and Catherine get right to renovating. They'll join the kitchen area to the new space by opening up a large window, as well as adding a stage and lounge area for the youth to perform and hang out in.

With the help of the restoration team, Believers Christian Fellowship Church is taking a lumber yard retail space and transforming it into a brand-new fellowship hall. With plenty of upgrades and a little bit of elbow grease, this room is sure to become a community life center with its plush, practical, and welcoming atmosphere.

Foster Memorial AME Zion Church is rich in history with its connection to the Underground Railroad. The congregation is hoping to update their lobby to showcase its historical past, so Catherine and Jim are here to help. They'll turn this dark and uninviting room into a brighter space with archival treasures on display, while also reflecting the congregation's spiritual growth.

Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene needs two spaces renovated for the youth, congregation, and community. Along with eager and helpful volunteers from the church's multicultural congregations, Jim and Catherine turn a drab classroom and a forgotten youth activity center into colorful and inspiring spaces with comfortable furniture and flooring.

Grace Restoration Ministries has a large, unused, and cluttered room that they hope to transform into a dedicated men's resource center. This will be a space to allow men in the community to gather, feel safe, and help find strength in themselves and each other. Jim, Catherine, and plenty of volunteers turn this room into a welcoming and functional space with a work station and lounge area.

The Old Ship AME Zion Church has a classroom that needs renovating and reorganizing. By subtly dividing up the spaces, the children will soon be able to enjoy a food prep area and crafting tables, along with a cozy library and entertainment center. With cheerful colors, new flooring, and new furniture, this room will surely turn into an enchanted and functional space.

The Hutchinson Missionary Baptist Church needs to renovate two basement rooms to create one large space dedicated to the church's elders and their integral involvement in the Civil Rights movement. With rich colors and fine furniture, the space becomes a cozy memorial room and meeting area for the congregation to enjoy, while also honoring the powerful and historic legacies of its members.

The Rising Star United Methodist Church has a vacant house across the street that's waiting to be turned into a community resource center. With four rooms to renovate in just a couple of days, the team is eager to get started. Soon, they'll have a brand-new reception area, computer center, conference room, and library for all the congregation and community to utilize and enjoy.

The Greater Thankful Baptist Church needs the team's help to finish renovating the attic of their Family Life Center. The pastor hopes that it will become a safe haven for the community, especially the youth. With all hands on deck, experts and volunteers race against the clock to turn a large, empty space into a comfortable lounge and game area.

The Pine Hills Community Church is looking to renovate their clothing mission, which provides free clothing to any family in the community who needs it. The cluttered and disorganized space soon becomes a brighter and clean retail area, complete with a fitting room, better display racks, a self-serve cafe, and a welcoming reception area.

The Hurst Chapel AME Church needs their multi-purpose community room renovated, which is especially being used for their after-school program. Experts and volunteers gather to help refurbish and update the kitchen, add entertainment and computer centers, as well as plenty of tables and seating for dining and working.

The Beloved Community Christian Church desperately needs to renovate their kitchen to better serve their food ministry program. With no updates having been done since the 1960s, a team of volunteers and experts help bring some aspects of the kitchen into the 21st century. With new flooring, lighting, and commercial appliances, this kitchen is well on its way to efficiency and comfort.
