Durban Beach Rescue

Senior lifeguard Sihle, rescues a teacher caught in a riptide and then deals with an obnoxious bather swimming outside the designated area. With unpredictable conditions and an increasing influx of swimmers, the lifeguards have zero tolerance for fools.

High school graduates spill onto Umhlanga Beach after partying all night. MJ, warns them of the dangers of dehydration and sunburn. A young man washes up on the shore with a possible spinal injury. MJ acts quickly to get him into an ambulance.

Lifeguard Luthuli and his Men of Steel work The Wedge, the most dangerous beach in Durban. At low tide, the rip current gets stronger and Cingo goes in for 5 rescues. A young girl who can't swim collapses in the water and is rushed to the first aid room.

The police maintain a strong presence and spring into action to stop a scuffle--and seize a stash of booze. Sihle deals with a case of alleged sexual harassment and the girl agrees to identify the perpetrator.

A tragedy unfolds at Westbrook Beach when lifeguards are unable to locate a man last seen at 3 o'clock in the morning. Ant undertakes the land and sea patrols. A storm moves in, producing cloud to ground lightning. Lifeguard Benni must close the beach.

An underwater attack occurs and five bathers are bitten by an unidentified sea creature. Speculation is rife---a sea donkey… a snake-like creature with razor sharp teeth… baby sharks? Has Durban's 60 year spell without a shark attack come to an end?

A massive blue bottle attack strikes. The attack is intense and scores of bathers in unbearable pain force the lifeguards to close the beach. Sihle rushes to Addington Beach where a woman has had an epileptic fit.

There's pandemonium when a flash rip sweeps 150 bathers off the safety of the sandbank and deep into treacherous water. Lifeguards work relentlessly to rescue the drowning bathers and one man is dragged unconscious from the water.

Three Korean tourists lose control of their canoe and drift near the shark nets. They're exhausted and need to be towed back to the shore. A disturbing call comes in – a woman has thrown her five year old daughter off the pier.

With thousands of bathers in the sea, the lifeguards decide to close the beaches early. The bathers refuse to get out the water. As tensions simmer, the troublemakers go up against the lifeguards and a fight breaks out.
