When a car bomb goes off in a Sydney suburb, the police suspect the work of Islamic extremists and form a joint task force to deal with it. Malik has his doubts, however, and becomes obsessed with uncovering the truth.

Malik works with Agent Skerritt to track down the car-bomb killers; their prime suspect is a Lebanese businessman who could be an arms dealer. Malik goes undercover to find out, while the Major Crime squad investigates the murder of a young female student from a wealthy family.

Malik is deep undercover in his mission to link arms dealer Akmal with the car-bomb murder of an NSO agent. But when a sex trafficker kills Akmal’s girlfriend, Akmal orders a hit on the man—and he wants Malik to do it.

An ambulance officer is stabbed to death by a kid in a drug-induced rage. When Detective Koa delivers the news, he bonds with the dead man’s Maori family. During the investigation, the detectives find a potential link to the stolen arms that killed the NSO agent.

When Akmal is killed in prison, Malik becomes even more determined to find out the truth behind the murder of the NSO agent. Meanwhile, Inspector Wright juggles professional and personal problems when her own brother becomes the target of an intended hit.

The murder of Inspector Wright’s brother unites the team at Major Crime. While the detectives band together to help their boss, they also look into the death of a respected transplant surgeon. Malik’s wife, fed up with his laser focus on his work, leaves with their children.

Major Crime and NSO unite again as the threat of a terror attack looms over them. Malik uses everything in his power to discover the conspirators, and in doing so, he finally finds out why Agent Angleton was killed.
