All hell breaks lose when Douglas and Quincy's convertible breaks down in the desert. Douglas thinks Quincy is taking him to Other Desert Cities for a Tuesday night drag gig, but Quincy confides in Kathy that he may have other plans.

Thom and Cal embark on a cross country road trip to move back to Silver Lake from New York City. Thom meets a ruggedly handsome stranger at a gas station in New Jersey and takes Cal on a surprise detour.

Cal and Thom entertain a guest in their camper. After a rude awakening, they seek out help from Cal's mother Valerie, decide to change course and set out to have the road trip of their lives.

Back in Silver Lake, Hillary and Ian have moved in together and she is feeling a need for some alone time. Ian obliges by taking daily walks around the neighborhood where first he catches up with Jeremy and the reconnects with Kathy, who has just gotten back into town.

As Thom and Cal continue traveling west, discussions about their drinking, their sex lives and their past mistakes make them question their future together. Are they going in the same direction?

With Valerie's blessing, Thom and Cal decide to spring for a hotel in Portland. Over drinks in the hotel bar, they meet another couple that leads them to evaluate their own relationship. They arrive at the coast and make a decision about their future.
