A desperate car chase through San Francisco ends with Richard, Chase and the baby plunging into the icy bay.

Two people from Chase's past come to town and force Maggie and Angela to face some unpleasant consequences. Melissa tries to make peace with Lance, who moves in with Dina.

Angela forces Wilkinson to disclose Richard's acquisition of Eric's Nevada property. Emma agrees to write her autobiography, hires a manager and heads for Hollywood. Lance discovers that someone sabotaged his car. Vicki has a serious problem.

Angela and the mysterious Carlton Travis conspire to destroy Richard. Emma's writing a screenplay in Hollywood. Melissa brings Fixx along when she visits Cole and Joseph in Australia. Angela and Carlton Travis discover that they share a past history.

Carlton Travis kidnaps Richard and Angela. Maggie throws a birthday party for Richard's son. Melissa and Joseph get lost in the Australian outback. A nurse gets Dina to sign over Lance's $500,000 check to her.

To rescue Richard, Angela seeks help from Lillian Nash, celebrated Washington hostess and wife of a Supreme Court justice. Melissa comes to Lance's aid when he is arrested for murder. A man that Fixx believes to be a thief has a surprise identity.

Lance risks his life to bring the real killer to justice, Richard helps the daughter of an old friend and Angela tries to destroy Melissa's vineyards.

While she ponders Richard's proposal and his involvement with Liz, Maggie joins Vicki and Eric in Monte Carlo. A would-be assassin continues to menace Liz. Melissa gets revenge on Angela.
