In this dystopian version of a not-too-distant future, the environment is so hostile that even taking out the trash can be life-threatening if you don't wear a protective suit. The clinically clean interiors of workplaces and apartments offer precious little diversion, and Falter finds his human chance acquaintances to be similarly bleak.
