Three friends take a demanding and emotional journey as they travel to Patagonia to climb a rock face and fulfill the wishes of a deceased comrade.

One of the world's top free solo climbers, Alex Honnold, takes on the climb of Half Dome in Yosemite. While most free soloists scale rock faces of 100-200 ft. without any support, Alex goes up the "truly massive" 2000 ft. rock face of Half Dome on his own.

Two brothers, Timmy and Sean O'Neill, climb Yosemite's El Capitan in preparation for the enormous challenge of scaling Peak 6000 in the Ruth Gorge in Alaska. Sean's paralysis calls for special adaptations for the climb, but it is the Alaskan weather that may prove defeating to the team.

Three experienced alpinists from Boulder CO, Jonny Copp, Micah Dash and Wade Johnson, go on an expedition to ascend Mt. Edgar in Tibet. A dangerous and unstable frozen mountain, the challenge proves overwhelming and tragedy strikes the team during the attempt.

Dean Potter, a free solo climber and base jumper, attempts to tackle Mt. Eiger, the forbidding peak in the Alps. But cloud cover and weather obstruct the face and make the climb impossible. However, Potter will not give up his desire to conquer the mountain, and he learns about himself in the process.
