Bret and Jemaine’s band has moved to New York, but can their friendship survive when one of the guys falls for the other's ex?

Desperate for cash, and with their band-fund box nearly empty, Bret and Jemaine decide to get jobs. Only Bret is successful – he gets a job holding up signs during the day, a problem since Jemaine refuses to practice at night.

After a chat with his mum back home, Bret joins Jemaine for a band meeting with Murray, and unveils his new “rapping name”: Rhymenocerous.

Murray is perturbed when Bret cancels a band tour of building rotundas to be with his girlfriend Coco. Things get worse when Jemaine follows suit, choosing to be an active participant (or third wheel) on Bret and Coco's dates.

With Bret preoccupied with Coco, a lonely Jemaine visits the Laundromat – and runs into Sally, the “most beautiful girl in the room” who dumped him (and Bret) earlier.

A body-conscious Bret gets dream advice from a rock idol; Murray pitches a Conchords tune to an audio greeting-card company.

Bret and Jemaine arm themselves for a race war with a fruit vender; Murray falls for a tech-support woman at the office.

Bret and Jemaine pick up two women at a croissant shop – but end up with very different dating experiences. Meanwhile, Murray makes an album deal for the band.

Using the band's “emergency fund,” Murray organizes a warm-up tour in preparation of a big gig in central park. At an airport bar, the boys get hooked by some “mermaids” from a woman's water-polo team.

The Conchords triple their fan base after playing a local world music jam, but Mel is suspicious of the two new fans' motives.

Bret and Jemaine enlist a semi-professional actor to cheer up Murray after a disappointing gig. Asked to place a good-hearted rejection call, the actor ends up getting carried away, offering Murray and the Conchords a recording deal.

New Zealanders Bret and Jemaine have been living in NYC awhile – but their quest for “hot women” and a music career remains a work in progress.
