Flipping Bangers

One year ago, Gus Gregory and Will Trickett ditched their day jobs to trade in the kind of cars people usually avoid. And they're back for more! They find an Audi Quattro roadster than has been better days - but it's full of problems! The roof has stopped working, the ABS system has failed, the exhaust is falling off and it hasn't been serviced in years. Clearly they need to buy it.

They find an orange Reliant Kitten that an engineer has given up on - but it's a basket case - the body is detached from the chassis, it doesn't run and most of the bits it needs are in boxes in the boot. But the gang are sure there is cash to be made from it.

They want to buy an MGB roadster but the cheaper GT version is the one they find. The cars usually start at 2000 pounds but they find an ex-project car that's got a few rust patches, and snap it up for around 1000 pounds.

Gus and Will want a classic Morris Minor, and they find an ex-police car in a lovely shade of blue. But the seller wants them to bid online - they can't pay and take it away.

They want to buy a VW Beetle as it's such a legend but the market is far too rich for them. They locate a guy selling a project car. It's almost too good to be true at less than 1000 pounds.

They want to buy a BMW, and Gus doesn't mind which. Will says he likes the 'feminine' Z3 so they choose that as the next car to buy. There's a trade-in up the road which might fit the bill but they find out it's a high price. Still, they have a drive, and it charms them into a buy. They have to be very aggressive with the seller to get the deal they want - and it works.

They want to buy a classic British sportscar. However, they can't find one. They go instead for the once-maligned Austin Maestro. The car they want to buy has already been sold but the seller has another car - his own - on the driveway. The guys drive that car instead and decide perhaps that they have a new option.

Gus and Will want to buy a 'Scandinavian car', so end up settling on a Saab as they've never done one before. They want a classic 99 but the only one they can find is the older 99.

They want to buy a classic Rover that's cheap and not too rusty. The classic SD 1 is impossible to find so they go for a Honda-based 800 coupe, a car that once cost 30,000 pounds and is 80 percent handmade.

Gus has his eye on a classic Renault 5 that's cheap and clean. Will isn't sure but Gus twists his arm. It's super rare, has little wrong with it, apart from a cooling issue that they can't see, let alone fix.

Gus and Will really want an 'Eastern Block' car to see whether all those (now very old) Skoda jokes where deserved. They locate an orange Skoda 'Estelle' that's been imported and stored by an eccentric car collector. By bidding low on an internet auction site, they manage to win it, but the next puzzle…how can they add any value to it?

Gus has his eye on a Citroen XM 5 that looks amazing. The small issue is that it's in France. Will isn't sure about the XM at first but the engineering challenges of the car win him over.

The guys wants to do a 'four by four' since they are in high demand. But their dream list of cars is short as they can't afford much of a car on their budget. But Will has a cunning plan and steers them towards a Suzuki owned by his friend.
