Gichin Funakoshi an Okinawa was asked ot go to Japan and introduce the mainland to this rare and beautiful art form known as karate and that is exactly what he did. He demonstrated his skill and intellect in such a way that he and his art were well accepeted by the Japanese martial arts community including names like Kano who became a close friend and promotor of Funakoshi's karate.
