Buda Extending for nearly one and a half kilometres, the historic centre of Budapest and its impressive Royal Palace tower proudly over the banks of the Danube. Budapest's castle district has developed into the Hungarian capital's main attraction, most notably, Fishermen's Bastion that was built between 1890 and 1905. The Gothic, Matthias Cathedral, dates back to the 19th century.
