When a teenager named Cal is found dead beneath the wheels of a tractor, his friends-Tina, Rob, Annie, Janine, and James-have their lives upended. Police officer Ruth Rosen investigates Cal's death as a murder, complicating the situation.

With suspicions high, Cal's friends are questioned by the police about what happened on the night of the murder. Attempting to raise spirits, Rob plans a surprise for James. Ruth tries to determine who supplied the friends with ketamine.

Tina reaches out to Eli, Cal's brother, but he's haunted by the changes he had seen in Cal the last few years. Ignoring her spiraling personal life, Ruth focuses on the case and finds footage of a hooded man arguing with Cal on the night he died.

As the police continue their search for the killer, tensions within the community hit an all-time high. Ruth's uneasy relationship with Dominic also reaches a crisis point. Eli arranges a meeting with the anonymous sender.

Determined to identify his stalker, Rob delves further into Cal's secrets, putting himself and James in danger. Meanwhile, Ruth strikes out on her own and discovers startling new information about one of Cal's closest friends.

In police custody, James uses his one call from the police station to reach out to his friends. He needs someone to track down a mystery man who will be able to alibi him. Rob embarks on a dangerous mission.

Now that three murders have occurred, James remains in police custody, but the investigation is in disarray. Removed from duty on the murder squad, Ruth must confront the possibility that she may never find Cal's killer.

Ruth is caught between loyalty to Cal's friends and exposing the killer. A huge manhunt begins when one of the teenagers is kidnapped, and Tina and Ruth join forces to help with the search.
