Gary is under pressure at home, as Yvonne wants a new house and a baby. When Yvonne makes a cutting remark, Gary storms out and heads to the Royal Oak to look for Phoebe. But when he finds her, she’s not alone.

Following his arrest, Gary must appear in court, putting his job in jeopardy. Yvonne wants them to attend marriage counseling, but Gary is resistant. He retreats to 1941, where he meets an equally despondent Phoebe and resolves to change his ways.
