Bethan and her gang of friends from school have a fun time at an overnight visit to a local university, despite certain tensions running high. On her return home, Bethan meets her mother's new boyfriend Perry and his daughter and bonds with them both. Despite her reservations, Bethan understands why her mum believes they can both have a better future if she can find a way to be with Perry.

Bethan's relationship with Cam reaches a new level and Bethan begins to share Trina's optimism about escaping her abusive father.

As Trina's mental health deteriorates, Bethan once again finds herself caring for her mother and hiding the truth about her life from her friends. However, Cam won't be fobbed off with her lies and wants to know the truth.
