Retired Louisiana detective Rodie Sanchez is reinstated to solve the murder of Eugenie Boisfontaine, a woman who was dumped in a bayou. With the help of modern forensics, Rodie may finally have what he needs to find her killer.

The detectives turn to Eugenie's neighbors who reveal they watched her walk around late at night. They also meet with retired forensic anthropologist Mary Manhein to gather insight on the type of weapon the killer may have used.

After receiving a tip, Aubrey sits down with a convicted felon. Meanwhile, Rodie tries to rekindle the relationship with his son and the team continues their efforts to speak with Eugenie's ex-husband.

The detectives narrow their focus to a few possible leads and obtain a subpoena for an interview. Then, Rodie is in danger of leaving the case and breaking the promise he made to Eugenie's mother.
