Nobody wants to defend the son of the firm's biggest corporate customers who is charged with raping a woman who has leukemia.

Michael Kuzak defends an unsavory client; Arnold Becker offers to "Look over" a woman's divorce settlement; Douglas Brackman Jr. challenges Ann Kelsey on her handling of a case.

Kuzak and Sifuentes observe attorney Sy Modell move to dismiss the charges against his millionaire defendant, Nelson Gallagher. Gorgeous Deputy D.A., Grace Van Owen, argues with the judge’s decision to dismiss the charges due to lack of substantial evidence.

Sifuentes is taken off-guard when Brackman invites him to dinner at his home. The staff convenes for a meeting and Abby is mortified when the status of her divorce from her husband is brought up by Becker.

McKenzie's guest lecture at a local law school on pro bono cases turns into a frenzy of economic self interest questions by the students.

The staff convenes for a meeting and Becker is in a foul mood after breaking his finger in a basketball game. He mentions the idea of the firm handling entertainment law which upsets McKenzie. Brackman tell Sifuentes to drop the Escobar immigration case since she is no longer working as his maid. Kuzak verbally defends his client who wishes to be stuffed and mounted when he dies.

Grace Van Owen is the scandal of Judge Schroeder's courtroom as she begins work on Monday morning. Maroni, Krupp and the others find it amusing that she ran off with Kuzak, leaving her fiancé Kevin at the altar. Grace is later confronted by Kevin, who promises to wait for her to come back to him.

Kuzak meets with Cindy Helms, a secretary at Barrett Broadcasting, who provides him with crucial evidence in favor of his client, Stacey Gill. Later, Kuzak talks Sifuentes into representing the defendant in a hopeless dog bite case he has scheduled.

Grace Van Owen observes as opposing Counsel Sid Hershberg questions his client, Julian Tatton, on his alleged armed robbery attempt. Hershberg loses his patience with Tatton and punches him. Judge Travelini holds Hershberg in contempt. Kuzak offers to take Grace to lunch, but she does not want to make their relationship public knowledge.

Becker reports on the polygamy case at the weekly staff meeting. McKenzie brings up the subject of Cheney’s old office, which Kelsey, Markowitz and Becker have all set their sights on. The three of them end up in a shouting match and McKenzie threatens to turn it into a conference room if they don’t settle their dispute.

Kuzak awakens from a frightening dream where his client, Jimmy Petrovek, is electrocuted in the death chamber. Later, the staff meeting is disrupted by a dog howling in a nearby office. Abby brings in the dog she found abandoned on her way to work.

Kuzak reluctantly agrees to take over Sid Hershberg’s pro bono case where the defendant is accused of attempted murder. Later, at the prison, defendant Nina Emmons tells Kuzak what took place the night of the shooting. Three police officers burst into Nina’s apartment looking for her ex-boyfriend. She shot at them to protect her children and her baby was shot and killed in the cross-fire.

Kuzak questions Sergeant Flynt about the shooting that took place in Nina Emmon's apartment. Flynt shows no remorse for shooting little Sarah Emmons.

Sifuentes convinces Judge Englander to drop all charges but one against his eighteen year-old client, Andrew Putnam, who accessed the records of the telephone company and deleted all of his friend’s phone bills.

Judge Hood reluctantly releases Kuzak from jail when McKenzie brings a writ from the Court of Appeals. Sifuentes takes Jeffrey Putnam to his sentencing hearing. As Putnam predicted, he is given six months probation and eighty hours of community service.

McKenzie lunches with Raymond Lloyd, a senior partner at Marshall Taft's New York law firm. Lloyd suggests to McKenzie that they merge their two firms. McKenzie declines believing the other partners would also say no. Later, McKenzie asks Deputy D.A. Stanley Kunin to dismiss the charges against Judge Hood.

Van Owen returns to day court and Rogoff assigns her to a theft case where the stolen merchandise was bull semen. Abby asks Sifuentes to escort her to her cousin’s wedding, but he already has plans.

At the staff meeting, McKenzie congratulates Kuzak on landing Northland Pharmaceutical as a client. Kuzak is assigned to Northland’s case involving five people who suffered impairment by taking Northland’s Cold 20 and another drug called Benedol.

Van Owen observes as defendant, Walt Buckner, is found guilty of murder one and sentenced to death. Buckner verbally threatens Van Owen’s life as he leaves the courtroom. Kuzak begs Van Owen to buy a gun to protect herself.

Brackman enter the staff meeting wearing a toupee and the others can barely control their laughter. Later, Brackman tells Becker that he will be in the same position in a few years considering Becker’s receding hairline.

At the staff meeting, Kelsey mentions Brackman’s lawsuit filed by his neighbor, Keris, concerning Brackman’s dog, Sparky. Later, Van Owen and Kuzak argue over Kuzak’s handling of a date rape case. Van Owen claims date rape is too hard to prove in criminal court, let alone civil court.

Becker spots a beautiful young girl, Lucinda, at the market. She turns out to be the daughter of a former client. Later, Roxanne notices Becker's jubilant mood and asks for a day off so she can go to Hawaii with Leon.

Sifuentes conducts direct examination of Dr. David Koenig as Abby and client, Regina Furnald, sit at the defense table. Dr. Koenig mentions post-partum psychosis and suggests Gina was delusional when she killed her baby. On cross-examination, D.A. Caporale insists that Gina's alleged disease is no excuse for murder.
