La Línea Invisible

Txabi Extebarrieta is a brilliant 19-year old undergraduate, living in the old town of Bilbao. Txabi starts getting involved with ETA, alongside other young militants determined to take their small sabotage endeavours to a whole new level.

Three years later, during the longest strike of the dictatorship, two visions of ETA are debated. With the support of his brother and “The Englishman”, Txabi’s faction wins the Assembly and he is elected leader of ETA, promising to take action.

In order to fund the activities of the organization, Txabi and his comrades decide to rob a bank. While still planning the robbery, Txema rushes in and carries out the job by himself in the name of ETA, managing to steal 300.000 pesetas.

“The Englishman” summons Txabi to the South of France to persuade him that the time for ETA to strike its first mortal blow has come. Txabi and the ETA members are tracking several Francoist leaders to decide who will be their first victim.

On the 7th of June of 1968, Txabi Etxebarrieta and another ETA militant are stopped by a traffic officer. Txabi then murders the Civil Guard, José Antonio Pardines, who becomes ETA's first victim. Txabi and ETA have crossed “the invisible line”.

After the murder of the Civil Guard José Pardines, Txabi and Peru are stopped at a police checkpoint and Txabi is killed, becoming the first ETA member to die in action. ETA’s leadership decides to avenge his death by killing Inspector Melitón.
