A group of old friends Ray (Bob Hoskins), Lenny (David Hemmings) and Vic (Tom Courtenay) get together to make a nostalgic journey from London to Margate to scatter the ashes of Jack (Michael Caine), one of their crew. As they make their way in a series of flashbacks they reflect on their friendship with all its secrets, resentments, and deep loyalty.
