Due to his mother's illness, Kaito Kijima (grade 5) and his family moved to his father's hometown of Ogijima. After his mother dies, he lives with his father and grandfather, but his father leaves the island to return to his job as a photographer. After his father leaves, a new student, Yu Takagi (5th grade), smiles gently at Kaito, who endures his loneliness alone.
