Life Cycles

This episode is focused on the moment of birth, the crucial moment for every living creature. Whether leaving the comforts of the womb, emerging from an egg or undergoing transformation from an already living creature.

Another important key moment: every animal needs a place to live. Some species hide themselves in nests, dens and shelters. Some require a vast area, which provides the resources to sustain them and their families-and some need space to hide.

All living things must sustain themselves in order to live another day. Whether by consuming plant matter, or preying on others, every animal eats. Herbivores must find a good spot where they can graze and at the same time.

Humans aside, among social animals, group leaders are always looked up to, with their decisions going unquestioned. Their position gives them special mating and feeding rights, but these individuals also have to shoulder responsibility for others.

Some animals enjoy the company of others of their kind, and some cannot get by without the support of a group. Some are entirely dependent on others fulfilling strictly defined roles within their society.

The purpose of existence for every living thing, from the smallest bacteria to the Blue Whale, is to reproduce. Ways of finding a suitable mate and producing strong kin differ from species to species.
