A Kubrik's Lolita style movie with Italian taste. A writer returns home from World War I and becomes interested in the young niece of the innkeeper at the place where he is staying. Even if her sexuality is beginning to bud, he can't physically consummate any kind of relationship with her. When she begins to prefer a male closer to her age than the writer, though, the finality of the plot is set.
