When small-town paramedic Susette Kelo (Catherine Keener) left a failing marriage to start over in a new community, she had hoped to start over by fixing up her rundown cottage with its gorgeous water view. Instead, Susette must emerge as the reluctant leader of a local struggle against corporate and political interests, intent on bulldozing her and her neighbours' homes.
