Paul (Paul Reiser) and Jamie (Helen Hunt) struggle with being empty-nesters after their daughter Mabel (Abby Quinn) leaves for college.

When Jamie (Helen Hunt) can't stay away from campus, Mabel's (Abby Quinn) drastic measures to keep her at bay force Paul (Paul Reiser) to step in when trouble arises.

Jamie's (Helen Hunt) return to the workforce is complicated by menopause. Paul (Paul Reiser) is asked to speak to Mabel's (Abby Quinn) college film class.

Jamie spins out when one of her meticulously crafted scrapbooks documenting Mabel's childhood disappears. Meanwhile, Ira shocks everyone (himself included) when he asks Lucia to marry him.

Tonya (Kecia Lewis) supervises Jamie (Helen Hunt) as she transitions back into the workplace as a therapist. At the gym, Mark (Richard Kind) is upset when Paul (Paul Reiser) refuses to be naked around him.

When Lisa (Anne Ramsay) double books housesitting clients, Paul (Paul Reiser) is tapped to spend the weekend at Anderson Cooper’s apartment. Jamie (Helen Hunt) unwittingly comes between Tonya (Kecia Lewis) and her fantasy husband.

Just as they are starting marriage counseling, the Buchmans get a generous offer for their apartment. Ira (John Pankow) suspects he’s being punished for not using a local cheese supplier for his restaurant.
