Das (Sikanth) is a rowdy who frequently gets into trouble with police. Das decides to become an actor upon witnesses a film shooting. This leads him to Dada, a goon who with lot of connections in the film industry. However, they fall out and Das challenges to defeat Dada in the forthcoming elections. The rest of Mahatma is about how Das gets involved in politics and his tryst with 'Gandhism'.
