The fifth season of MasterChef Junior kicks off as the 40 best young home cooks from across America compete in 4-way contests to earn a coveted white apron from our judges - Culinary legend Gordon Ramsay and world-renowned pastry chef Christina Tosi.

The junior home cooks will take on Cupcakes, Steak, Chicken, and Lobster, preparing their signature versions for the judges. For a cash prize and the title of MasterChef Junior, they will do everything to win an apron and earn a place in the Top 20.

In the elimination test, the junior home cooks receive a world-class demonstration from Gordon and must replicate one of his classic dishes. Based on their performances, the judges decide which home cooks will enter the top 18.

18 of America's best young home cooks battle it out in the hope of winning the title and the 100,000 dollars first prize. First, they will compete in an epic corndog challenge to determine who will claim a major advantage going into the elimination.

The top 16 best young home cooks in America face a daunting team challenge to prepare a special lunch for 51 heroic first responders. The two teams of 8 will have to work together to make 51 entrées for these brave first responders.

The top 14 junior home cooks are in for a very presidential challenge delivered by the first lady. In the elimination, the chefs are tasked with making a dish inspired by their moms. The two chefs with the worst dishes will be sent home!

The top 12 junior home cooks in America compete in a high-speed cream pie team challenge. For the winning team, victory will be sweet - they'll be safe from elimination and they'll get to put pies in the judges' faces!

The 6 previously eliminated cooks return as they compete to cook their way back into the competition. The chefs will have to prove they're a cut above the rest by breaking down a chicken and producing a quality dish worthy of a coveted white apron!

The top 12 chefs face a daunting team challenge to prepare food for 49 boy and girl scouts. The two teams of 6 will work together to make it a fantastic campfire cookout. The losing team will return to take on a difficult dessert challenge!

Our final ten junior home cooks take on a magical holiday team challenge. In five teams of 2, the young chefs must perfectly decorate a gingerbread house. The losing team must perfect a Gordon Ramsay classic-Beef Wellington in the elimination task.

Next, the young chefs face a MasterChef classic - the tag team challenge. Working in pairs, under intense pressure, they must recreate a high-end sushi platter. In the end, two hopefuls will be sent home and lose their chance at winning the game!

The aspiring young chefs are joined by the stars of the Muppets, Miss Piggy and the Swedish Chef in a fiery steak Frites cook-off that will determine who moves on in the competition and remains in the hunt for 100,000 dollars and MasterChef Junior title.

The top 6 junior home cooks face a challenge to run a seaside pop-up restaurant. In 2 teams of 3, the chefs will complete a full appetizer and entree service for VIP guests. After getting feedback, judges will decide who moves on to the semi-final.

The final 4 junior cooks square off in the semi-final to compete for the two coveted spots in the finale. The chefs will have just 30 minutes to produce one of the most challenging desserts in the culinary world!

Tonight, Jasmine and Justise must prepare a restaurant-quality three-course meal for our judges and special guest judges, Chef Wolfgang Puck and the iconic Martha Stewart. In the end, the cook with the best overall menu will claim the title!

Gordon will present this one hour 'extra serving' from the MasterChef, he will lead us through all the best bits, reveal his favourite dishes, the moments that made him emotional and the times that the kids left Gordon himself, lost for words.
