Maudie (Sally Hawkins - Shape of Water) suffers from debilitating arthritis and permanent bone deformity. To support herself, she answers a housekeeping ad placed by the gruff bachelor Everett Lewis (Ethan Hawke). Their formal working relationship quickly turns into something more, and with Everett's encouragement, Maudie dares to cultivate her hidden talent as a painter.
