Amateur detectives, Jerry and Pamela North, investigate various crimes - often solving the case before the police.

Secret government documents are stolen from a government facility, and even though the thief is apprehended at the scene of the crime, he manages to toss the documents out the window so his accomplice can retrieve them and disappear safely. Onboard a train, the Norths find themselves a part of the investigation.

Pam and Jerry are enjoying a relaxing day at the beach when a mysterious man with a rifle pulls up in a sedan and fires upon Jerry, closely missing him. Unfortunately, the Norths cannot catch a glimpse of the license plate and must put together the pieces as to the murder's intentions without much information.

While attending a college reunion, Pam is taken hostage by Jerry's former roommate who is now a professor at the college. The professor demands the school cease their atomic production program, or he will detonate his own bomb in the school's fieldhouse during the next big basketball game.

A vicious counterfeiter escapes from prison and hides out in a remote cabin while recuperating from plastic surgery to alter his appearance and hide his real identity. The counterfeiter's gang lures the Norths to the hideout cabin and holds them, hostage, with cruel intentions.

The Norths are driving to a party when they are stopped on the street by an injured man. The man turns out to be a wounded criminal who is on the run, and upon getting into the North's car, he instructs them to drive to Canada.

The Norths travel to Mexico City to help their friend, Detective Paco of the Mexico City police, solve a missing person case. As they board their plane for the flight back to the United States, no one on the flight is aware that someone had planted a bomb aboard the aircraft, and it is ticking away.

One day prior to attending his good friend Robert Tyler's wedding as Robert's Best Man, Jerry receives a phone call at his office from a man who tells Jerry that unless he and Robert visit him in room 206 of the Twelfth Street Hotel, his friend will not live to say- "I do."

After some fun in the sun in Miami, the Norths board a train back to New York. As they dine that evening, a lady sitting at a table of four next to the Norths slips Pam a note containing the fragmented sentence "I'm in trouble and..." The Norths then receive a cryptic wired telegram in their room.

Pam's old friend, Amelia Little, pays the Norths a visit. At first, Pam believes Amelia's odd behavior stems from being overwhelmed by the big city, but the truth is, the visitor is not Amelia, but an impostor who tossed Amelia off a train and assumed her identity. And now, the killer is targeting Pam.

Pam enrolls in Don Santiago's School for Models and discovers that fencing class is not the only place where people are at risk of being struck by a sword. When Don Santiago is murdered, Ellen, a model who cheats men out of money at the school, is initially suspected.

A friend of the Norths has a change of heart after making arrangements to murder his wife's secret lover. Will they be able to stop the assassin in time before the murder takes place?

Even if the best iron safe may be broken by the best safe-cracker it only takes one untimely cough for the best laid criminal plan to evaporate into thin air in a blink of an eye.

The paid companion of an elderly silent film star attempts to commit suicide after the tabloids implicate her in the death of the former actress she was hired to serve.
