There is a boisterous bucks party for Des Clarke at No. 28. Shane Ramsay has hired a stripper, Daphne Lawrence, much to the delight of the other blokes. The noise is troubling some of the Ramsay street inhabitants, especially Max Ramsay. It is now 2a.m., and Max is going to put an end to Des Clarkes last day of freedom.

Sparks fly when Max's sister - Madge Mitchell - arrives in Ramsay St. 17-year-old Mike Young gets a job in the coffee shop. Max worries about property values and Paul returns from a three week convalescence whilst Shane accuses Zoe Davis of theft.

Jim tells everyone that the body they found in the river is not Scott. Madge tells Douglas all about how she got her diamonds and that she is still broke. Zoe grills Mike about his home situation, Mike tells her not to worry because he won’t be around much longer.

Daphne receives some shocking news and turns to Des for advice. Shane is jealous when he discovers Daphne favours Des Clarkes opinion over his own. Zoe tries to befriend Paul Robinson but he rebuffs her. Paul is taking refuge from his hurt and confusion by playing the hard-nosed businessman.

Madge's daughter, Charlene, arrives in Ramsay Street and brings the news that her father is now living with his girlfriend, who is pregnant. Madge and Charlene clash over behavior and truth vs. tact. Mike faces his mother, who unhappily tells him he is on his own for financial support.

The Ramsays recover from the news that Henry is in jail. Max hears the full story from Madge, about her deciding Henry was showing no sign of stopping his pilfering, and she decided she would no longer cover for him. His prison sentence was an awful shock. Max sympathizes. Mike and Charlene go job-hunting. He will try almost anything, but Charlene wants to be an apprentice mechanic.

Daphne and Clive discover a different side of Mike when he reveals his plans to leave school to strike out on his own. Nikki breaks up with Mike. Charlene is determined to move in on him. Unaware that Charlene has been partly responsible for the breaking between Nikki and Mike, Helen makes arrangements with Madge for Charlene to move into the Robinson house to share Nikki's room.

Eileen is using old food in the mousse and Des is not happy as a bout illness sweeps through Erinsborough, no one is safe not even the cat. Madge is trying to get Susan to stay but Susan cannot understand what the big deal is. Scott and Charlene cannot wait for Janes big dress reveal.

Daphne is still in bed ill and everyone is worried. Mike is speechless with Jane’s new look and can’t decide what he should wear. They all head off to the dance with great excitement but everything does not go as planned and Jane runs off.

Scott and Charlene are home from the dance early and tell Sue that Mike walked home alone. Daphne is not eating and Des is concerned that she also might be pregnant. Meanwhile Paul has plans for the biker chic to stay longer and invites her out to dinner.

Charlene begs Madge to call Mr Bishop, Charlene thinks Paul has ruined Clives life but Shane tells her to not be so hard. Charlene reads Scott’s article and says if it is published it will cause a stink that he will not hear the end of.

Scott and Lucy get in an argument about Basil coming to the beach with them. Scott does not want Basil stinking out his car. Things get saucy at the beach with Scott and Charlene and Basil put himself in a life threatening situation when he jumps off the pier.

Lucy and Mike are on the pier calling and looking for Basil. They cannot find him, Mike dives into the sea. Mike comes up from under the water and Lucy shouts if he can see Basil. Mike shouts back that he cannot see him anywhere, he swims under the pier and dives down under the ocean in a vain search for Basil.

Paul suspects Mrs. Mangle about going to the Journalist and she begs for understanding, Jane tries to help as Mrs. Mangle tries to justify herself…Paul wants to know exactly what’s going on.

Paul, Des, Henry and Mike are planning Scotts stag night. Henry has an idea but Jim lets them know he does not like practical jokes. Later with the party in full swing Paul asks Scott to join him in the cellar for a toast.

Scott knows the plan and makes a run for it from the cellar and locks everyone in. There is lots of banging and shouting from Dan and Henry emerges in a chicken suit.

Dan does not see how a schoolboy can provide for his granddaughter. Hilary butts in and says at least Scott and Charlene are getting married instead of living out of wedlock like Dan and Edna.

Wedding plans are in full swing but will it be derailed with an outbreak of measles. Charlene reveals to Scott she has spots, Madge declares they may have to cancel the wedding. Scott kisses Charlene and says if you have measles then so do I, we are not calling off the wedding.

The big day has arrived…Scott is stressing out to Mike and Paul that Charlene might not turn up. As Scott looks round, he sees Charlene coming through the door on Henrys arm, dressed in a beautiful white dress and veil. Henry places the rings on the bible and Scott slips Charlene's ring on to her finger while Jane cries in the background.

Paul is talking to Henry about the Waterhole renovations, he tells Henry the objective is to give the Waterhole a real outback feel. Des comes in and wants to talk about Jamie's christening. Paul jumps the gun, thinking Des was about to ask him to be Jamie's godfather. Madge is making baked beans for Henry's dinner so Scott and Charlene will not feel so left out.

Paul offers his help and support, but Jim says there is nothing he can do, but Jim thanks Paul for offering. Rob heads off to see Gail at the office - apparently she and Paul are working late. Gail applauds Paul as she turns to face him, not saying anything. But Paul thinks he had every right to say that to Rob. Jim is steamed about Rob's behaviour - what does Rob think he's paying him for?

Madge tells Henry that the take was down by forty five dollars and Paul thinks Henry was in on Kenny with it. Kenny insists that Madge made a mistake, but Henry says that Madge is always very good with money. She tells Helen that on no account must she invite Harold for dinner - she might end up being the main course Helen says that Madge was only joking with her comments about Harold.

Jane says Charlene does most of the work, Charlene says Jane's a model. As the guys give chase, Jim and Paul arrive and they give Jim the keys. As the guy who has been fighting Jim recovers and gives chase, Jane runs into Gail and Tony coming the other way. Outside Daphne's room, Paul and Gail fill Des in on catching the guys.

Harold and David are in full wedding garb at 8.30 am Jane isn't even dressed! David asks, none to subtly, to be introduced to her and comments that her outfit is very fetching . Harold tells Mrs. Mangel that he's put up with her comments in the past but not today - he loves Madge 'desperately, passionately, and irrevocably' with every fibre of his being.

They go to leave for the party but Des stops Jane saying he cannot go yet because every girl that goes to an engagement party get a ring and he produces an engagement ring. Jane's touched and tells him it is perfect just like he is and loves him a lot. Nick arrives back with the crates and Jim asks him whether Joe and Kerry are on their way.
