Luffy recalls a time when Captain Red-Haired Shanks taught him a valuable lesson in friendship and set him on his quest to be King of the Pirates.

Luffy crosses paths with the clever thief Nami. A navigator on a quest to collect one hundred million berries, she's perfect for Luffy's new crew – except for the fact that Nami hates pirates.

Having delivered a deadly blow to Captain Buggy's pirates, Luffy and his companions need a place to recuperate. But the three are not in hiding very long before the Beast Tamer Mohji seeks them out.

In the ongoing fight with Captain Buggy's pirates, Zoro must face off with the Acrobat Cabaji while Luffy continues to do battle with the Pirate Clown himself.

Luffy and the gang are on the run after the battle with Captain Buggy! With no place to go and nothing else to do, Nami finally agrees to join Luffy on his quest.

Luffy, Zoro, and Nami arrive at an island hoping to obtain a ship and crew, but the three are quickly confronted with the blustering Captain Usopp - who has a connection to Luffy's past.

Luffy follows Usopp to the mansion and encounters the brutal pirate Captain Kuro. The scoundrel plans to claim Kaya's fortune and live the stolen life of luxury.

Usopp spreads word of Kuro's evil plot and the impending pirate attack, but no one believes his warnings. The Straw Hat Pirates decide to help Usopp put a stop to the dastardly scheme.

Luffy and crew seek to best Captain Kuro, but they've prepared their defense on the wrong side of the island! All looks grim now that Usopp must face off against the Black Cat Pirates alone.

In an effort to save Usopp's village, the Straw Hat Pirates seek to block the marauders' path from the sea. With Luffy out of the battle, Zoro must face the fearsome Meowban Brothers!

Nami manages to rescue Zoro's missing swords and attempts to revive Luffy. With one of the Meowban brothers down, the other rages on even more fiercely than before!

Usopp's friends run away with the heiress Kaya. Jango races off after them, but not before sending Butchie into a berserk rage. As Zoro continues his battle, Luffy takes on Captain Kuro.

Luffy battles with Kuro on the beach, while the Veggies (with Kaya in tow) flee Jango the Hypnotist.

Kaya rewards the Straw Hat Pirates' efforts to save her with a ship to call their own - the Going Merry!

On the legendary Treasure Island, Luffy and crew encounter strange animals and an even stranger man named Gaimon.

In the past, young Zoro sparred constantly with a girl named Kuina, but he could never claim victory. They vowed that one of them would someday be the world's greatest swordsman - but tragedy intervened.

The Straw Hats need a cook among their crew, so they head to a nearby restaurant and meet a passionate Sous Chef named Sanji.

Luffy witnesses the fighting prowess and compassionate nature of the Sous Chef Sanji. The good news: The Going Merry's found a cook! The bad news: He has no intention of joining the crew!

The staff and patrons of the Baratie panic when Don Krieg arrives! The starving pirate begs for nourishment, only to find himself denied. Unable to see a wretch starve, Sanji steps in once again.

Don Krieg promises further malice as he returns to his ship, but the threat to the Baratie proves short-lived as an even bigger threat arrives!

The Going Merry's been stolen by Nami, and the showdown for possession of the Baratie is delayed. But the action's not dead in the water - Zoro challenges Hawk-Eye Mihawk to a duel!
