Panchlait is a story of a small village in North India that still has no electricity, and its people live in darkness. The villagers procure a gas lamp, but after opening the package they realize no one knows how to light the lamp. The only person who can light it is Godhan, an outcast who was falsely accused and asked to leave the village.
