In the premiere of this modern noir drama series, Pa (Ben Kingsley) and Ma (Jacki Weaver) discover drug addict James (Jimmi Simpson) on an empty New Mexico road and bring him to their ranch in Half Acre, NM.

In Mexico, the imprisoned Pa (Ben Kingsley) and Ma (Jacki Weaver) are separated, while back in Half Acre, James (Jimmi Simpson) and the real Paul Allen Brown (Damon Herriman) conduct a secret meeting.

Pa (Ben Kingsley) commandeers the ice-cream truck, as James (Jimmi Simpson) provokes a rattlesnake encounter and Felipe (Efren Ramirez) undertakes astronaut training. Local ruffian New Leaf (Chris Conrad) threatens to kill James.

Pa (Ben Kingsley) drives the stolen ice-cream truck to Hector’s house in Mexico, while James (Jimmi Simpson) interrupts Felipe’s (Efren Ramirez) astronaut training in Houston. Meanwhile, Hector (Luis Guzman) catches Ma (Jacki Weaver) escaping.

On Father’s Day in Mexico, Pa (Ben Kingsley) follows Hector’s sons into their classroom and impresses them, and James (Jimmi Simpson) guides Glenn (Dash Williams) out of the desert into El Banco Nacional as New Leaf (Chris Conrad) tags behind.

Pa (Ben Kingsley) gains control over Hector (Luis Guzman), demanding that Hector lead him to Ma (Jacki Weaver). Meanwhile, James (Jimmi Simpson) confesses to New Leaf (Chris Conrad) about his guilt over his firefighter colleague dying in his stead.

A determined Pa (Ben Kingsley) amasses his fortitude to keep digging in a dirt field, hoping to contact the abandoned Ma (Jacki Weaver). Meanwhile, with bad news mounting all around him, New Leaf (Chris Conrad) must outwit Wesley (Terry O’Quinn).

Pa (Ben Kingsley) and Ma (Jacki Weaver) face off against the cartel sisters in Mexico, as James (Jimmi Simpson) faces increasing pressure from Wesley (Terry O’Neill) back in Half Acre.

Pa (Ben Kingsley) and Ma (Jacki Weaver) find themselves outnumbered at the Mexican cartel headquarters in Mexico, while James (Jimmi Simpson) learns new skills from Paul (Damon Herriman) in Half Acre.

In the suspense-filled season finale, it’s reckoning day as Pa (Ben Kingsley) and Ma (Jacki Weaver) are driven to the killing fields by a cartel henchman in Mexico, while James (Jimmi Simpson) prepares for a funeral in Half Acre.
