Pirates: Adventures in Art

After discovering a treasure trove of prehistoric art on the walls of a cave, Cleo becomes trapped by admiral Crank! Using drawings, just like the cave dwellers did, Cleo manages to let Leo know her secret escape route!

Cleo and Leo are painting a modello when Crank traps the pirates in a small bay. But the Pirates use their modello as a model and paint a large landscape on a spare sail to hide their ship.

The Pirates are visiting one of Cleo’s former art teachers and learn about building kites. Unfortunately for Krank when he tries to capture the pirates they escape by building a giant kite that carries them to safety!

Jacopo, the master trompe l’oeil artist summons the pirates as he’s running low on art supplies. When Krank arrives the Pirates escape by creating a trompe l’oeil moat around Tricky Tower.

The Pirates travel to Wildfang Island to visit master mask maker Darius. The pirates are delighted to find that the legend that the island is covered in wild animals is a rumour created using animal masks to scare off Conformia and her minions!

The Pirates visit Leo’s Uncle Alex for his island’s annual Dragon Boat race. Uncle Alex is building a papier maché trophy for the winner when a stack of flyers, launched by the S.S. obey, destroys the figure head on his boat! With no time to rebuild the wooden figurehead the pirates fashion a papier mache head and steal the victory from Queen Conforima’s team!

The Pirates brave narrow paths and rickety bridges to get to the top of a high mountain so Leo can check in on a friend’s mobile museum. When Krank and his minions arrive the pirates’ escape route becomes blocked with the collapse of the rope bridge! They use their new-found knowledge of the movement and balance of mobiles to create a temporary bridge.

It’s Frescos birthday and Krank has stolen the pirates’ birthday card art supplies! Fortunately, Cleo remembers reading about collage and the pirates are able to surprise Fresco with a card made by using pieces of this and that from around the ship!

While learning about cubism and sketching at Picasso point, the Pirates are captured in a giant bubble gum cube fired from Krank’s latest weapon, the Cubinator. Locked in the hold of the S.S. Obey, the Pirates convince Krank to let them build a statue of Krank himself out of storage crates to commemorate his victory.

The Pirates are on a mission to help Fresco return a legendary ring to the legendary Golden Gekco! After braving a moat filled with crocodiles the pirates discover that the legendary Golden Gekco is a beautiful tile mosaic and the “ring”, when put in place, is the key to getting back across the moat!

Leo’s friend, Angus MacAngus, introduces the Pirates to his “bagpainter”. Angus loves bright colours, and his caravan stands out against the gently hued surroundings. Conformia sends Krank on a mission to get rid of all of Angus’ paintings.

Cleo’s friend Layla has just learned that her family’s decades-old shadow puppet theater is being closed down by Queen Conformia. When Admiral Krank arrives, the Pirates help Layla put on a final show for him and his Minions.

The Art Pirates meet Gustav, the royal portrait painter, who painted a portrait of Cleo when she was a little princess! Queen Conformia has demanded he paint a portrait of her but instead he happily paints a new portrait of Cleo.

Bosco Bean, maker of Leo’s favorite candies, Yucky-Ucks, is about to lose his candy store to Queen Conformia, who plans to market her own sweets.

It’s a big day for the Pirates’ friend Giovanna - she must create a fruit sculpture of Queen Conformia as the centerpiece for a banquet celebrating her Queeniversary. The sculpture looks great - until Fresco can’t resist taking a grape from the centerpiece.

The Pirates are building a sand castle. Unfortunately, Queen Conformia has forbidden any sculptures in her realm - except ones of her. She orders Admiral Krank to destroy the castle and he does. But a quick look in the encyclopedia shows that clay can be used to build sculptures that will last for ages - and the Pirates quickly rebuild the castle.
