Ride Upon the Storm

Denmark, 2017. The Krogh family have been priests for more than 250 years. Johannes, the current head of the family, is headed for the top as the Bishop of Copenhagen.

Johannes realises that his methods don’t fit the bishop’s plans, which doesn’t exactly make him happy. And it also creates friction in the relationship between Johannes and Elisabeth.

A wholly changed August returns home to Copenhagen – to the great bewilderment of his closest family, who don’t understand what’s happening.

A dazed and bruised Christian wakes up in a monastery in Nepal. Everything he owns has been stolen, leaving only an overwhelming sense of guilt. While he recuperates, a young monk tells him about the teachings of Buddha.

Christian returns home from Nepal with a completely changed outlook on life, an outlook he sets down in writing when he temporarily moves into the family’s summer cottage.

Christian visits Amira in an attempt to atone for his sins, only to discover that she has left Mark. They slowly bond over the book based on Christian’s experiences in Buddhist Nepal that is gradually taking shape.

A disastrous Easter lunch results in considerable changes in Johannes's inner circle.

August starts working as a street pastor, where he is drawn into a case of two brothers staying illegally in Denmark – both rejected asylum seekers.

Christian buys his own apartment. But unfortunately, the great unresolved love of his youth, Nanna, shows up with a story that further cements the already poor relationship between Johannes and Christian.

This year, the traditional Pentecost service at Johannes’s Lindegard Church is attended by a pre-eminent guest, the Bishop of Copenhagen, and a variety of priests subordinate to Johannes.
