Road Less Traveled

Jonathan begins the journey from California with a rugged 4x4 cross of the Mojave desert, full of ghost towns and danger. Arriving in Las Vegas he looks around the corners to expose the hidden side of town: slick hustlers, pig farms, and underground dwellers. But a hunt for a legendary treasure pulls him again into the desert, where he digs for something unexpected, deep in the dunes.

Jonathan enters a country still recovering from a violent past. He tours the killing fields and examines how the massive breakdown in society has lead to unusual freedoms like pharmaceutical drug and automatic weapon accessibility. But beyond bizarre tourist frivolities, more serious aftershocks still resonate: Forests and wildlife vulnerable to a greedy world market.

Jonathan begins a quest to find an extreme type of holy man reputed to eat human flesh and commit other blatant acts of embracing taboos in a strange path to nirvana. He begins in the holy city of Varanasi: The Jerusalem of Asia. The search continues in the village of mayong where ancient black magic practice is passed on in secrecy from generations past.

In a country where anything can be found, Jonathan is unsurprised to find women in different roles and status, but the extremes are shockingly diverse and unexpected, cases in Uttar Pradesh, the most rural of rural India; and on the flipside, in Shillong, where the gender roles are reversed! The quest for the extreme holy men, the aghori, continues, does Jonathan find a conclusion?

Jonathan plunges into London exploring the subcultures of the diverse city. A trip that will include stripping for naked poetry, spraying bars wi grime rappers, viewing burlesque at its roots. In a tea time session with Twinnings heir, Jonny tries to pass off a fake posh accent and wearing a Saville row suit. Finally, he heads up to the Top Gear track in an attempt to beat Tom Cruises time

Jonathan travels across the pond to the land of his ancestors to look into the British isles homegrown beliefs, legends, and sports. A trip that begins with a vampire lurking in a cemetery and ends with zombie apocalypse. In betwene he attends a Wicca ceremony, meets a crusading druid by Stonehenge, traverses dramatic Welsh cliffs via coasteering and competes in the Bog Snorkeling Championships

Jonathan enters Europe's fashion capital to try and grasp what makes it "Tre Chic" But as he meets with modeling agencies and designers something is lurking below him in the ancient catacombs, where hundreds of miles of passages contain the bones of the dead, curiosities left by "cataphiles", and a secretive vampire society.

After exploring the Parisian catacombs, a parkour expert teaches our host the art of moving across an urban landscape by channeling his inner monkey boy, and as the Technoparade rolls down the Parisian streets he pulls on his connection with DJ Nick V to spin in the most electric moment.

A meeting with a woman who secretly transcribed 3,000 Hollywood films while under an oppressive regime inspires Jonathan to make his own movie. So with a small budget and a cast of local actors he scouts the country to create an action adventure flick.

Jonathan begins his first Balkan adventure. Growing a mustache for charity and exploring the concept of what it means to be a man. He begins in Albania, where strange bomb shelters dot the land. Taking exotic rally trucks, he ventures into newly formed Kosovo. In a land rocked by recent war and simmering ethnic tension, is there a lesson to be glimpsed from men and their worst and best?

Jonathan's Romanian exploration resumes! He explores secretive internet chat rooms of Bucharest. He meets a social expert that helps introverted men meet the ladies of the city. From here, things take a turn as Jonathan goes into full urban exploration mode exploring the city's dilpidated areas. Here he chances upon the story of stray dogs in Bucharest.

Jonathan enters Europe's poorest country with a purpose: Enter the little know breakaway Soviet Republic of Transnistria with a package. for a friend. Along the way our host swings trapeze in an old Soviet circus, acquires a classic Dacia car, races horse drawn carts with the Gypsies, and cycles through one of the largest wine cellars in the world.

Jonathan caps off the season with an expedition into the spirit of isolation. From Damanhur in isolated Dolomites, Italy, to the 2nd highest monastery in the world, situated in Arunachal Pradesh in India, all the way south to McMurdo Base station in Antartica. What can Jonathan glean from these far out locations by meeting people that have made isolation their way of life?
