Salyut 7: History's Most Daring Space Mission

The unmanned Soviet space station Salyut 7 suddenly stops responding to commands from the Control Center. If the station, the pride of Soviet engineering, falls from the sky, it will damage the image of the country and bring untold casualties. To investigate and prevent a historic disaster, Cosmonauts are sent up to perform a seemingly impossible task: to board an out-of-control vehicle in space.

The Cosmonauts have entered the runaway space station. As they embark on an endless series of repairs, government officials now make plans to destroy the station to prevent Americans from capturing it aboard the Space Shuttle. With the team's oxygen supply running dangerously low, medical teams call on Mission Control to abort the mission. But there's only enough oxygen for one man to return.

It was the Soviet Union's "Apollo 13." In 1985, a crew of two cosmonauts flew into space to rescue a non operational space station, 20 tons of dead metal that was destined to fall to Earth with unpredictable consequences. There was no guarantee whether they would manage to dock the station and repair it. This is the story of how Russian filmmakers turned this event into a masterwork of suspense.
