Frank has been certified to be fit for work by the Department of Work and Pensions. He grudgingly starts working at World of Burgers when all his attempts at evading work fail. Shane and Jackson start a business selling hooch and employ Billy. Avril too starts a business with some weird consequences.

Frank is doing well at World of Burgers and soon gets promoted to Manager, but is soon demoted again. When Karen's son Connor starts drawing penises on walls, Mimi gives her some bookish advice on bringing up children. But she soon has to deal with her own daughter Cilla's behavior. Kelly teaches Aiden how to respect women.

Marty meets the Brazilian Aparecita, who he thinks is a domestic slave. He spends Lillian's money to "free" her, following which Lillian employs her at the brothel. Aparecita eventually gets arrested. When Dominic brings home Gloria's birth mother, there is some emotional tension between the women. Billy's self-help tape returns some weird results while Shane runs over a pedestrian.

After taking out a very high-interest loan, Gloria gets drunk and stays over at Mimi's. Upon seeing a positive pregnancy test kit, Billy assumes Mimi is pregnant until Jamie tells him that test was Gloria's. It turns out to be a false alarm. Chesney and Aidan get a cow and name it Alan. Shane meets the widow of the man he ran over, while Avril runs the risk of taking a joke too far.

Guilt-ridden, Shane takes on a false name and tries to befriend Ruthie, the widow of the man he drove over. He tries to help the family cope with grief while running the risk of giving away the truth. A new brothel opens up and offers a job to Kelly, and also threatens to put Lillian out of business. Patty helps Chesney impress Beccy, a girl he is in love with.

Shortly after proposing marriage to Kelly, Marty has to rush to Spain to check on his wife and children who were assumed dead. Karen suspects Jamie of infidelity and chooses to confide in Gloria, who he is actually having an affair with. Gloria chooses to end it with Jamie while Lillian struggles to make sense of a few visions.

Shane and Jackson's business is flourishing right when Shane has a change of heart and begins to donate more than they can afford. Shane even runs into trouble with a local Catholic priest. Patty's generosity towards their neighbors raises eyebrows and then becomes the subject of a full-fledged hate campaign. Billy's lack of performance in bed throws Mimi into a spell of sadness.

Dominic asks Frank to help him commit suicide, following the suicide of an old flame. Frank tries to foil all his plans until Dominic decides to give up on the idea of killing himself and instead focuses on stopping Avril from encouraging Letitia to lose her virginity. Meanwhile, one of Lillian's clients writes her off as a life coach to justify his expenses.

Things get scary when Jamie starts receiving threats. After Karen is attacked, he decides to meet the attackers and pay them a hefty ransom. He is left stunned by the identity of the perpetrator! Avril suspects Patty is dying from leukemia, while Frank is hell-bent on proving that he has had sex with everyone in Chatsworth.

Frank helps fulfil Patty's wish to visit Ireland and takes her to Waterloo. For their first wedding anniversary, Mimi and Billy plan to renew their vows. In the process, she manages to anger Ruby who ends up holding her at knifepoint. Tragedy ensues. Jackson walks out on Avril while Dominic sleeps with the most unlikely man!
