Station Eleven

In what turn out to be the last hours of civilization as we know it, Arthur Leander, a famous Hollywood actor, has a heart attack onstage while performing King Lear.

Twenty years after the Georgia Flu kills 99.9% of the population, Kirsten has found a home with the Traveling Symphony, a troupe of Shakespeare actors and musicians.

Rewind to Arthur Leander's last days on earth, when he reconnects with his long-lost love, Miranda Carroll, a self-contained artist who's just finished her life's work-- the graphic novel Station Eleven.

Danger greets the Traveling Symphony as they head to their next destination: The stranger Kirsten warned about turns out to be a cult leader ravaging local towns-- and, inexplicably, drawing inspiration from the story of Station Eleven.

En route to his funeral, Arthur's ex-wife, Elizabeth, and son, Tyler, are grounded at a small airport with his estranged best friend, Clark. Isolated from the deadly flu, they and the strangers from their flight form a makeshift society.

Amid the wreckage of a deadly attack on the Symphony, Kirsten tries to track down the cult leader--whom we now recognize as Tyler Leander. Meanwhile the Symphony is lured to perform at the mysterious Museum of Civilization.

Badly wounded, Kirsten loses consciousness and, in a dream, follows her young self back into memories of her time with Jeevan and his brother, Frank, who cared for her after the flu killed her family.

Tyler leads Kirsten to the Museum of Civilization--which is also the airport he escaped twenty years ago. He masquerades as an actor, plotting revenge on Clark and Elizabeth.

Jeevan and Kirsten survive, a family of two in the post-apocalyptic landscape, until chance events separate them permanently. Jeevan's thrown into the role of doctor.

Tyler's revenge threatens to spiral out of control until Kirsten's ingenuity lands him onstage, playing Hamlet to his mother's Gertrude.
